Deine Mission

Als Network Engineer (m/w/d) wirst Du Teil unseres Netzwerk-Teams und trägst aktiv zum stabilen Betrieb unserer komplexen und automatisierten WAN- und Core-Infrastruktur bei, die sich über fünf Rechenzentren deutschlandweit erstreckt.

Gemeinsam mit erfahrenen Kolleg:innen sorgst Du für eine robuste und leistungsfähige Infrastruktur. Dabei wirst Du schrittweise in Architektur- und Designthemen eingebunden und entwickelst Dich fachlich kontinuierlich weiter.

Du arbeitest eng mit unseren Netzwerk- und Datacenterexpert:innen sowie angrenzenden Teams zusammen und bringst Dich mit eigenen Ideen in die Weiterentwicklung unserer Infrastruktur ein.

Deine Aufgaben

Mitgestaltung des Betriebs und der Weiterentwicklung unserer Core-Netzwerk-Infrastruktur (z. B. Backbone, Routing Core, Rechenzentrums-Interconnects)
Unterstützung bei Architektur- und Designentscheidungen sowie bei der Auswahl und Implementierung geeigneter Hardware- und Softwarelösungen
Administration, Konfiguration und Monitoring von Switches, Routern, Firewalls und Load Balancern
Analyse und Behebung von Netzwerkstörungen im Rahmen des operativen Betriebs
Erstellung und Pflege technischer Dokumentationen (z. B. Netzwerkdiagramme, Konfigurationsanleitungen, Betriebsrichtlinien)
Teilnahme an der Rufbereitschaft für den Netzwerkbereich nach erfolgreicher Einarbeitung (extra vergütet)

Das bringst Du mit

Gute Grundlagen in mindestens einem dynamischen Routingprotokoll (z. B. OSPF, IS-IS oder BGP)
Erste bis mehrjährige praktische Erfahrung im Umgang mit Netzwerkkomponenten (z. B. Juniper, Arista, Nokia oder vergleichbar)
Solides Verständnis von Netzwerktopologien und gängigen Technologien wie MPLS/VPLS, VXLAN oder IPv6
Idealerweise erste Erfahrungen im Umgang mit Firewalls oder Load Balancern
Interesse an Automatisierung, CI/CD oder GitOps im Netzwerkkontext
Sehr gute Deutsch- sowie gute Englischkenntnisse runden Dein Profil ab

Your mission

As the “network glue,” you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth operation of our complex and automated WAN and core infrastructure, which spans five data centers across Germany. You will orchestrate our network components to maintain a robust and high-performance infrastructure at all times. Together with a team of SysEleven network and data center experts, you will serve as a point of contact for colleagues across various teams, actively supporting them in delivering a highly available cloud infrastructure. You don’t need to have “Senior” in your title—what matters is your willingness to take responsibility and grow within a complex infrastructure environment. In addition to your daily tasks, you’re eager to contribute independently to the ongoing development of our network infrastructure and make a lasting impact.

Your tasks

Responsibility for the design, operation, and ongoing development of the core network infrastructure, including backbone, routing core, and data center interconnects, in close collaboration with other infrastructure teams
Support in consolidating the cloud and network stack through architectural and design work as well as the selection and implementation of appropriate hardware and software components
Creation and maintenance of comprehensive network documentation, including network diagrams, configuration guides, and operational policies
Administration and troubleshooting of network resources, including the configuration and monitoring of switches, routers, firewalls, and load balancers, as well as resolution of network issues and outages
Participation in on-call duty for network-related topics after the probation period (with extra compensation), limited to the network domain

Requirements

Extensive experience with dynamic routing protocols such as OSPF, IS-IS, and BGP
Hands-on experience operating and configuring common network products such as Juniper, Arista, and/or Nokia in production environments
In-depth knowledge of network topologies and core infrastructures, particularly architectures such as MPLS/VPLS, VXLAN, IPv6, and data center interconnects
Familiarity with firewall and load balancer vendors, as well as their implementation and management
Ideally, experience with CI/CD pipelines and the application of GitOps practices in a networking context
